Authentic Intersectionality: Moving Beyond Just a Moment

2021 Annual DEI Discussion

Can’t make it but still want to hear this important discussion? Register today, and we’ll send you a link for the recording after the event.

Sharing experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Greg Rokisky is not only an experienced communicator, but an advocate for top-to-bottom equitable solutions in organizations. WMPRSA’s annual DEI discussion will reinforce the importance of developing day-to-day tactics, broader PR strategies, and communication skills that are authentic, while at the same time acknowledge intersecting identities. Attendees will be challenged to commit to efforts that all practitioners and organizations should embrace when it comes to authentic inclusive communications and actions.

Our speaker:

Greg Rokisky, Social Media & Digital Content Manager, PFLAG National

Greg Rokisky is the Social Media & Digital Content Manager for PFLAG National, creating engaging stories and conversations across all social and digital channels. PFLAG National is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies, with 400 chapters and 250,000 members.

Based in Lansing, Mich., Greg has nearly a decade's worth of experience in mission-driven strategic communications, public relations, and marketing work in nonprofit, corporate, and agency settings. Prior to PFLAG National, he worked as the Assistant Director of Marketing for Michigan's public education association in service to thousands of the state's elected school board members. He spent three years simultaneously working as an independent digital media consultant for Imagine Dragons' nonprofit, The Tyler Robinson Foundation, which aims to strengthen families financially and emotionally as they cope with the tragedy of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. He's worked on strategic activations with brands like Zappos and Angry Birds, with influencers like Shaquille O'Neal and Frankie Grande, and on public affairs and advocacy campaigns to change hearts, minds, and policy. When it comes down to it, he is a data-driven, detail-oriented creative with a love for furthering inclusive and intersectional organizational objectives through all means of communicating and storytelling.

On the daily, Greg is fueled by a constant flow of black iced coffee, endless shelves of books, and the latest binge-worthy entertainment.

Greg currently serves as past president of the Central Michigan Chapter of PRSA and as a board director for PRSA’s East Central District.
