GR for PR: Simple Ways Government Relations Can Add Value to PR Work

Another election year is upon us. Politics and public policy can shape how your organization or clients do business. Have you thought about how government officials play a role in your PR strategies? When creating strategic PR plans, do you include elected officials? How about their staff members? How does an election year impact your efforts? When should you engage candidates? Having a PR strategy in place for these vital stakeholders is paramount - at the local, state and federal level.

You don’t have to specialize in government relations to practice and include sound public relations strategies with government officials. Government relations, like media relations, investor relations, community relations, and internal communications, should be an integral part of your PR strategic plan.
